The bride is the daughter of Dematris (deceased) and Grace DeVane. She is the granddaughter of the late Lillian and James Beatty and Ester and William DeVane. Bridemaids included Amy Franks of Durham, North Carolina, Mirannda Stephens of Mebane, North Carolina, and Avery Thompson of Cary, North Carolina.
The groom is the son of Mary and Nathaniel Mathis Sr. He is the grandson of the late Louise and Luther Benjamin and Inez and DeWitt Mathis. The groom’s attendants included Nehemiah Mathis and Hachi Sturdavant both of Durham, North Carolina and Leon Sturdivant of Greensboro, North Carolina.
The bride attended North Carolina Central University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She is employed with the Durham Public Schools. The groom attended NC A&T State University and Strayer University. He is employed with Lowes Home Improvement, Inc.
The couple will reside in Durham, North Carolina.
